Two Ridings Community Foundation York Disaster Fund supports those in need in the City of York who are victims of the flooding caused by Storm Eva December 2015. The appeal is set up by The York Disaster Fund and is to benefit people living within the City of York Council boundary.
York Disaster Fund was set up in 2000 to help the victims of floods in York that year, and has kick started this appeal by donating funds to the York Flood Appeal to help this year’s victims of flooding in York.
Launched by Two Ridings Community Foundation on 29 December 2015, the York Flood Appeal raises funds to directly support individuals and families in hardship and vital community organisations and resident groups in the areas affected by Storm Eva. It provides emergency response support and clean-up support via charitable donations and grants.
Within 48 hours of the appeal launch, Nestle boosted the fund by £100,000. Since then donations have been received from members of the public, local businesses, philanthropists and charitable trusts and funders.
Partnerships have also been set up to raise the Appeal’s profile and secure more donations for those communities.
